Betty Silver named new Associate Vice President of NCEdge, leading the way in customized training
The North Carolina Community College System has announced Betty Silver as Associate Vice President of NCEdge Customized Training following the State Board of Community Colleges meeting September 15. Silver has served as the Senior Regional Director for the Northwest and Western Regions since joining the System in 2008.
In the new role, Silver is responsible for the System’s customized training program known as NCEdge. This internationally known program provides education, training and support services for new, expanding and existing business and industry in North Carolina through a network of 58 community colleges, serving all 100 counties of the state. She will also manage a team of regional trainers that work with businesses across the state.
“The purpose of the customized training programs is to support the economic development efforts of the State by providing customized training assistance to Business and Industry” said John Loyack, Vice President of Economic Development. “Betty is well equipped to lead a team of people in place to enhance the growth potential of companies, while increasing the retention of existing industry and preparing North Carolina’s workforce with essential skills.”
Prior to joining the System, Silver had a distinguished private sector career working for organizations like the SAS Institute and Tecan in product management, strategic planning and human resources roles. She is a Certified Executive Coach and a Six Sigma Green Belt.
“I will leverage my extensive experience and expertise to drive innovation and enhance operational efficiency within the team. I am committed to fostering a collaborative environment that empowers my colleagues to excel and achieve their professional goals, ultimately contributing to the overall success of the Economic Development Division,” Silver said. “My dedication to continuous learning and adaptability will ensure that I stay at the forefront of industry trends, bringing fresh perspectives and valuable insights to our program.”
Silver began this new role September 18.
