Carolina Small Business Development Fund Honors NCCCS Small Business Center Network with 2025 Torchbearer of the Year Award

The Carolina Small Business Development Fund (CSBDF) announced the Small Business Center Network (SBCN) as the recipient of the prestigious 2025 Torchbearer of the Year Award. This esteemed award recognizes an individual or group that has demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and dedication in advancing the mission and impact of the community colleges across North Carolina.

The Small Business Center Network, comprised of 58 Small Business Centers located at each of North Carolina’s community colleges, has been a cornerstone of economic development and entrepreneurial growth in the state. For over 40 years, the SBCN has provided vital services including free, confidential business counseling, workshops, and seminars, assisting thousands of North Carolina entrepreneurs in starting and growing successful businesses.

In FY2023-24 alone, the SBCN helped over 43,000 business owners and entrepreneurs increase their knowledge and skills through SBCN training events. These achievements underscore the critical role the SBCN plays in empowering individuals, diversifying local economies, and strengthening the overall economic landscape of the state.
