State Board of Community Colleges approves new president for Central Carolina
RALEIGH – The State Board of Community Colleges today (Jan. 18) approved the selection of Dr. Lisa Chapman as president of Central Carolina Community College in Sanford.
Chapman is senior vice president and chief academic officer at the North Carolina Community College System. Prior to joining the system’s staff in 2014, she was executive vice president of instruction and chief academic officer at Central Carolina. She earned a Doctor of Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Science in physiology from East Tennessee State University and a Bachelor of Science in zoology from UNC-Chapel Hill.
Chapman will succeed Dr. T. Eston Marchant, who will retire April 1 after more than 10 years as president.
In other action, the board:
- Approved the selection of Dr. Gayle Greene as acting president of Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, effective Feb. 1. Greene, the college’s executive vice president, will serve until April 12, when Dr. Scott Ralls will become president.
- Voted to begin rulemaking to establish criteria colleges must follow to create and maintain multi-campus centers. These centers provide instruction and related support at convenient locations apart from a college’s main campus. The proposed rule will be open for public comment from Jan. 22 to Feb. 21.
- Approved an Associate in Engineering degree to be offered by South Piedmont Community College in Polkton, beginning in fall 2019.
- Approved an Associate in Applied Science degree in equine business to be offered by Isothermal Community College in Spindale, beginning in fall 2019.
- Approved an Associate in Applied Science degree in agribusiness technology to be offered by Randolph Community College in Asheboro, beginning in fall 2019.
