Statement from the North Carolina Community College System on Inappropriate Adjunct Instructor Comments

The North Carolina Community College System has been made aware of an incident at Guilford Technical Community College in which an adjunct instructor reportedly made insensitive and inappropriate remarks in class following the assassination of Charlie Kirk. On Friday, the college announced that the instructor was no longer employed by the college.

This behavior is not consistent with the values or mission of our System, which is committed to providing open, respectful, and supportive learning environments across all campuses. There is no place for political violence in our society and no place for inappropriate comments like these in our classrooms.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family affected by this terrible tragedy. The System appreciates the swift corrective action taken by Guilford Technical Community College to address this serious matter.
