About
Many of the NC Community College schools offer intercollegiate athletics, with 21 schools competing in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and are a member of Region 10 of the NJCAA. In accordance with the open-door admissions policy, students admitted to the college who plan to participate in intercollegiate athletics must meet all admissions criteria set forth in the College General Catalog/Student Handbook. Player eligibility includes standards established by the institution and NJCAA.
In addition to traditional sports, several NC community colleges are involved in the NJCAA Esports league to bring competitive opportunities to students. The NJCAAE is made up of over 200 colleges and is the only esports league exclusively for two-year college students.
NJCAA Mission
The NJCAA’s mission is to promote, govern and foster a competitive environment for two-year college athletics. The NJCAA recognizes the diverse nature of its membership, providing at all times a consistent and inclusive governance structure that provides opportunities for all stakeholders and emphasizes the academic, athletic, and community involvement goals of all student-athletes.
