School-Age Expanded Learning and Enrichment (Certificate)
About
This program is designed to equip individuals with the skills to work effectively with school-age children in a variety of learning settings. It is specifically tailored for students interested in roles within public or private school-age care environments. The coursework covers child growth and development, the physical and nutritional needs of school-age children, providing care and guidance, and developing effective communication with both parents and children. Students will focus on nurturing the cognitive, language, physical, motor, social, emotional, and creative development of school-age children. Upon graduation, students will be prepared to design and implement age-appropriate activities in school-age settings. Career opportunities include positions such as school-age educators or administrators in childcare and development programs, group leaders, before-and-after-school program staff, recreational center coordinators, and other roles working with school-age children.
